Sunday Work Party

On Sunday four of us cleared around the large fallen horse chestnut tree just upstream of Rossett weir. The tree not only prevented access to the section below the weir but also had fallen across the leat. If left this would have caught up debris and prevented flow into the leat.

We have now cleared access to the leat gate crossing point around to the right of the fallen tree. Although the leat flow is now clear there is no access to the gate left of the tree.

As we are fast approaching the start of the season we plan a quick review of are river access points next week. So if you could spare some time please meet at the Llay road bridge next Sunday the 25th at 0930hrs, we would be very glad of your help.

Fly Tying Group

Our winter Fly Tying Classes have started again and the dates are posted at the top of this page. This group meets roughly fortnightly throughout the autumn and winter months at the Rossett & Burton Village Hall. The instructors are Dave Palmer and Eddie Wilkinson both of whom are instructors with the Fly Dressers' Guild. This group was set up by our club and the Ceiriog Club but is open to all (members or not). However we are limited to a maximum of 12. All levels are catered for and no previous experience is needed. We can supply basic kits if required. The  cost remains the same as last year at £5 per evening. Please drop a note to confirm a place to e.j.wilkinson@hotmail.co.uk

Please note we have added two more dates in March.

Change of Membership Secretary

At the AGM at the beginning of the year our Membership Secretary Graham Alexander gave notice that he wished to retire at the end of the season. A huge debt of thanks goes to him for all the hard work he has put in as the first contact with potential new members. He always made time to send details of what to use / how to fish the river, along with many telephone conversations to help new members.

Our new secretary is Les Jervis, he can be contacted at: -
