Sunday Working Parties

A Work Party of four club members carried out some useful bank work on Sunday 14th April. The path on the right hand bank at the top of the Cabbage Patch had been blocked again by willows falling across the footpath and fence line. Geoff used the pole saw to good effect and Tom, Sean & David hauled the considerable amount of felled timber away. It was hoped to move on to September Cottage and deal with the brambles close to that location but that work will be held over until Sunday 28th April. The river level is still quite high but dropping and clearing. It seems that the recent high water has cleared blockages in 2 pools but caused further bank erosion and damage elsewhere.

2024 Season

Club members are still waiting for the river level to drop to a genuinely fishable level. The lowest recorded level since the season began was 0.432 on the Pont y Capel gauge on 10 March and today, 5th April, the level is again high at 0.591.There were a few catch returns recorded on the Forum in the second week of March and hopefully more will appear as the conditions improve. The days are now longer, the sun is definitely warmer and fish have been seen rising when conditions have been calmer. I hope that club members and other visitors enjoy the fishing as and when conditions allow and the season is a successful one.
