The Club Rules are contained within the Membership Card, your 'permit to fish our waters', which you will receive when you join the Club.They are reproduced here as they appear on that permit.

The Club Rules

1.This permit is not transferable.

2. The holder of this permit has the privilege to fish the Club waters with a single rod and line and shall be deemed to hold an appropriate and current Environment Agency or NRW rod licence.

3. The trout season is from 3rd March until 30th September, both days being inclusive. Fishing below the weir at Rossett on the right bank only and provided it is not closer than 30m from the weir, may be carried out as far as the railway bridge.

4. The holder of this permit must, when requested, show it to authorised bailiffs of the EA or NRW and to other permit holders when fishing the Club waters. It is a duty of members to ask other anglers for a sight of their permit and licences. Members are asked to notify the NRW of any incidents of pollution and poaching on telephone number 0800 807060.

5. Members must take care to avoid causing damage to gates, fences, standing crops and all other property of the riparian owners. Access into fields must at no time be blocked by member's cars.

6. Club waters are 'fly only' and hooks must be either debarred or barbless (maximum hook size 10) The use of lures is strictly forbidden.

7. Members are requested to record all fish caught during the season, whether kept or released and, if possible, the location of the catches.

8. All trout under 10 inches, measured from the snout to the fork of the tail, must be returned. Members are encouraged to use restraint when taking fish in order to conserve the natural stock and the club therefore sets no bag limit on the understanding that this will be the case.

9. The practice on Club waters is that fellow members must not be disturbed. Members should not encroach on others and should aim to keep well apart unless specifically invited to fish closer.

10. Failure to comply with the club rules and behaviour, which the committee deems to be unacceptable, will result in the expulsion of the member and the refusal to accept their re-entry into the Club.

The holder of this card is an authorised agent of the Rossett and Gresford Flyfishers Club and as such is given the authority to act as a bailiff on their waters.

NOTICE

All anglers fish the Club's waters at their own risk. The Club will not be responsible for and shall be exempt from any liability in respect of any injury to anglers or any other persons from any cause or in any circumstances whatsoever.





Club Constitution

1.0 TITLE

1.1 The Club shall be called Rossett and Gresford Flyfishers Club (R & GFFC) hereafter to be referred to as "the Club"

1.2 The Club incorporates the members and waters of the Rossett and Gresford Flyfishers Club (Established 1906) and the Griffin Fishing Club. The Club so now constituted shall be non-profit making and any surplus funds shall be devoted to the objectives of the Club.

2.0 OBJECTIVES

2.1 The objectives of the Club shall be to protect and provide fishing in the River Alyn within the postal parishes of Rossett and Gresford, to acquire fishing elsewhere if the opportunity arises, to foster and promote the sport of fly-fishing at all levels and to provide opportunities to its members for recreation.

3.0 MEMBERSHIP

3.1 Membership of the Club may be subject to a restriction in numbers determined by the Committee, but otherwise shall be open to any person upon them completing a membership application form and paying the relevant subscription/joining fee as determined by the Annual General Meeting of the Club Members. Applicants seeking membership when the limit on numbers has been exceeded will be placed on a waiting list from which invitations to join will be made in order of accession.

3.2 There shall be five classes of membership available. These are: -

3.2.1 Full member.

3.2.2 Junior member. (Under 16 years of age or under 21 in full time education);

3.2.3 Honorary member.

3.2.4 Non Fishing member.

3.2.5 Family members.

4.0 EXPULSION OF MEMBERS

4.1 The Committee shall have power to cancel the membership of any member for behavior deemed by the Committee to be detrimental to the interests, aspirations and spirit of the Club or any of its membership, where their entrance fee and subscriptions may be forfeited. Members shall have the right to appeal in person to the committee with regard to any decision affecting them, provided that notice of such appeal is submitted to the Secretary, in writing, within seven days of notification of the decision.

5.0 OFFICERS

5.1 The Officers of the Club shall be President (non executive), Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.

6.0 ELECTION OF OFFICERS

6.1 All executive Officers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Club, from, and by, the Members of the Club.

6.2 All Officers are elected for a period of one year, but may be re-elected to the same office or another office the following year. The overall tenure of an officer may from time to time be limited and decided after discussion and agreement with the Management committee.

7.0 MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

7.1 The affairs of the club shall be managed by a Committee comprising the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer and up to twelve further members. There must be at least 50% of the current managing committee present to form a quorum. One of the Committee members may, at the Committee's discretion, be appointed Membership Secretary. The committee shall meet at agreed intervals but never less that four times during a calendar year.

7.2 Authority to sign leases and to make payments on the Club's behalf will be held by the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary of the day, of whom at least two will sign such documents as may be necessary.

7.3 A Committee member shall be disqualified by non-attendance at Committee meetings without producing an acceptable excuse and must attend at least two meetings in a period of twelve months.

7.4 The Committee shall have power to refuse any applicant for membership.

7.5 The officers of the Club, being the President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer or any member of the Committee so authorised by the Committee, shall not incur any personal liability for any duties properly carried out on behalf of the Club and any officer so acting shall be entitled to be indemnified from Club assets.

7.6 The duties of the Committee shall be:

7.6.1 To control all the affairs of the Club on behalf of its Members.

7.6.2 To keep accurate accounts of the finances of the Club through the Treasurer. These should be available for reasonable inspection by Members and should be audited prior to the Annual General Meeting.

7.6.3 To maintain proper bank accounts and the following Officers shall be authorised to sign Club cheques: two from the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary

7.6.4 To co-opt additional members to serve on the Committee as the Committee feels necessary. Co-opted members shall not be entitled to a vote on the Committee.

7.6.5 To make decisions on the basis of a simple majority vote. In the case of equal votes, the Chairman shall be entitled to an additional casting vote.

8.0 MEETINGS

8.1 An Annual General Meeting shall be held each year during the trout close season, open to all paid up members of the season just concluded. The actual date will be agreed by the committee and notified to members.

8.2 Twenty one (21) clear days written notice shall be given to Members of the Annual General Meeting by circulating a copy of the notice to every member to their home E mail or postal address and by posting the notice on the Club web site.

8.3 Members must advise the Secretary in writing of any business to be moved at the Annual General Meeting at least fourteen (14) days before a meeting. The Secretary shall circulate or give notice of the agenda for the meeting to Members not less than seven days before the meeting.

8.4 The business of the Annual General Meeting shall be:-

8.4.1 To confirm the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting and any general meetings held since the last Annual General Meeting.

8.4.2 To receive the annual report of the Chairman for the season

8.4.3 To receive the season report of the Committee from the Secretary.

8.4.4 To receive the audited accounts for the year from the Treasurer

8.4.5 To review the Club’s subscription rates and agree them for the forthcoming year.

8.4.6 To transact such other business received in writing by the Secretary from member fourteen days prior to the meeting and included on the agenda.

8.4.7 To elect the Committee and the three principal officers, by the votes of members holding tickets for the last season prior to the AGM. Nomination of candidates for election of Officers shall be made in writing to the Secretary at least fourteen days in advance of the Annual General Meeting date. Nominations can only be made by Full members and must be seconded by another Full Member.

8.5 Special General Meetings may be convened from time to time by the Management Committee or on receipt by the Secretary of a request in writing, from not less than ten Full members of the Club. At least twenty one (21) days notice of the meeting shall be given.

8.6 At all meetings, the chair will be taken by the Chairman or, when absent, by a deputy appointed by the Club or by Full members attending the meeting.

8.7 Decisions made at all meetings shall be by a simple majority of votes from those Full members attending the meeting. In the event of equal votes, the Chairman shall be entitled to an additional casting vote.

8.8 A quorum for Special and Annual General Meetings shall be ten Full members and three Officers of the Club including two from the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.

8.9 Each Full member of the Club shall be entitled to one vote at General Meetings.

9.0 ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION

9.1 Any proposed alterations to the Club’s Constitution may only be considered at an Annual or Special General Meeting, convened with the required written notice of the proposal. Any alteration or amendment must be proposed by a Full member of the Club and seconded by another Full member. Such alterations shall be passed if supported by not less than two-thirds of those Full members present at the meeting, assuming that a quorum has been achieved.

10.0 DISSOLUTION

10.1 If at any General Meeting of the Club, a resolution be passed calling for the dissolution of the Club, the Secretary shall immediately convene a Special General Meeting of the Club to be held not less than one month thereafter to discuss and vote on the resolution.

10.2 If at that Special General Meeting, the resolution is carried by at least two-thirds of the Full Members present at the meeting, the General Committee shall hereupon, or at such date as shall have been specified in the resolution, proceed to realise the assets of the Club and discharge all debts and liabilities of the Club.

10.3 After discharging all debts and liabilities of the Club, the remaining assets shall not be paid or distributed amongst the Full Members of the Club, but shall be donated to the Salmon and Trout Association.

11.0 APPENDIX

11.1 As part of the Club’s objective to ‘protect and provide fishing’, the committee will aim to maintain access to the river for members, while at the same time improving both the bank side and in stream habit.

11.2 An annual programme of work will be carried out to maintain access and improve the biodiversity of the local habitat the Club manages.

11.3 A significant role of the working parties is to engage with both Club members and members of the local community, in order to explain the benefits of the Club’s work. The aim is to raise awareness of the joint responsibility we all have in caring for the countryside and to increase an appreciation of this fragile environment we share.
